No “Reject” on the first layer
Short answer: The banner offers “Accept” but refusing takes extra clicks through settings — or is not possible at all.
Does a cookie banner need a “Reject all” button?
European regulators consider consent invalid when refusing is harder than accepting. This exact pattern has triggered some of the largest cookie fines on record.
How to fix it
- Add a “Reject all” (or “Only necessary”) button next to “Accept all”.
- Give it the same size, weight and contrast as the accept button.
- Keep “Customize” as a third option, not a replacement for rejecting.
How untick detects it
untick loads your pages in a fresh browser with no cookies and an EU locale, records network requests and cookies, inspects the consent banner and forms, and interacts with them the way a visitor would. When this issue is found, the report includes screenshots with the element highlighted, the evidence, and a fix tailored to your setup.
