Tracking continues after “Reject”
Short answer: After we clicked the banner’s reject option, advertising or analytics requests kept firing.
What happens if trackers still load after a visitor clicks “Reject all”?
A reject button that does nothing is worse than no banner: it misleads visitors and is direct evidence that refusals are ignored.
How to fix it
- Check your consent tool is actually wired to your tags — the reject action must stop every non-essential tag.
- Remove duplicate copies of tracking snippets hard-coded in your theme.
- Make sure already-set tracking cookies are deleted on refusal.
How untick detects it
untick loads your pages in a fresh browser with no cookies and an EU locale, records network requests and cookies, inspects the consent banner and forms, and interacts with them the way a visitor would. When this issue is found, the report includes screenshots with the element highlighted, the evidence, and a fix tailored to your setup.
